Lada Vesta review - interior, exterior, engine, gearbox and suspension


The mid-range "comfort" Lada Vesta, already rolling off the production line in Izhevsk, has a good stereo system with a small chrome monitor.

You can get a large touch screen in the center console in the luxury package, provided that you pay extra for the multimedia package of options. The luxury version comes with built-in navigation and a rear view camera as standard. Naturally, the Lada Vesta photo interior has a completely different look with a large monitor on the center console.

It should be noted that a plug will be installed in the center console in the basic version. The manufacturer promises to install audio preparation, which means that you can deliver the music yourself.

Ceiling


The next feature of the car's interior is the ceiling. Looking at it, you can find another control unit there. It is responsible not only for the light in the cabin; there are also additional buttons.

The first button turns off the passenger safety button. The second one has the inscription SOS and is an emergency call signal in case of an accident.

By pressing this “alarm” button, you will report the incident to the police, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, ambulance, and firefighters. It will also send them your car’s VIN and exact GPS coordinates. If a serious accident occurs, the system will notify all competent services without your participation.

Other components

Vesta is equipped with a very effective windshield heater, which clears it of ice crust in just a few minutes (in Comfort trim levels and higher). Heated seats with convenient controls (all trim levels) are very effective - control buttons in the photo:

The Lada Vesta air conditioning system provides a good level of comfort even in difficult weather conditions. The dimensions of the illuminated and cooled glove box are quite normal.

The Czech-made ignition key is made in the German style, combined with an alarm remote control and the use of a folding spring-loaded working element allows the size to be reduced.

The car is equipped with an emergency call system via GLONASS with push-button control.

The shape of the armrest (in the Comfort package and above) between the front seats has been simplified in order to achieve greater manufacturability in production, but does not spoil the interior. At the same time, it is secured in three positions. For reasons of manufacturability, the shape of the head restraints has been changed towards simplification.

In addition to the handles, the doors of the Lada Vesta car have pockets, the sizes of which allow you to store various small items in them.

To ensure the safety of small passengers, the rear door windows only roll down halfway.

The cigarette lighter socket is complemented by a USB port located next to it, which is used when reading data into the multimedia system.

Due to the use of a large number of noise-insulating coatings inside the cabin, the Lada Vesta is quite quiet while driving, even on bad roads.

Sheathing


The door trims are done in the style of Steve Mattin. In the photos you will see mechanical handles instead of electric lifts. For the “comfort” package this is normal. Having examined the interior of the Lada Vesta inside the photo, you can notice that the rear backrest partially folds, and this increases practicality. In the middle “Comfort” configuration, the driver’s seat is also adjustable in height.

Seats

The shape of the Lada Vesta seats is such that they have become more comfortable for the driver and passengers. The shape of the backrest angle adjuster has been changed in the front seats. The driver's seat cushion is quite hard, the width and other dimensions are comfortable. The microlift of the driver's seat (in the Comfort configuration and higher) has a sufficiently high depth of adjustment, which allows a person of two meters in height to comfortably fit in the cabin. The headrest is located almost close to the back of the head and you can comfortably lean on it when you are in a traffic jam. See photo:

The lateral support of the Lada Vesta seat cushions is very weak and practically does not fix the body during energetic maneuvers with high lateral acceleration.

The back row of seats of the Lada Vesta has been somewhat redesigned, has become flatter and does not have a pronounced division into two halves. The backrest is made according to a split pattern, which is convenient when loading long items into the cabin. Due to the raised installation of the front seat cushions, rear passengers can freely put their feet under them, which makes their stay in the cabin more comfortable. The comfort of fit is increased by increasing the thickness of the cushion in the front part.

The Lada Vesta seat headrests have an adjustable installation height. The rear seats are equipped with elements for anchoring a child seat.

The rear seats are wide enough for three adults. The main disadvantage should be considered a somewhat low ceiling (the gap between the pillow and the ceiling is about 86 cm), which interferes with tall passengers if they lean back.

The design of the Lada Vesta doors is such that even with a cap of snow on the roof, very little snow gets onto the seat cushion.

Salon

The main advantage of every sedan is its trunk. The interior of the Lada Vesta looks great inside the photo, but what are things like from the inside?

The very neat trunk lining is made of practical material, allowing Lada Vesta owners to happily and conveniently store purchases from any supermarket there. It doesn't even look bad. There are no longer any secrets regarding volume. The sedan's trunk can easily accommodate 480 liters of volume, and this is not counting the full-size spare wheel in the luggage compartment under the floor.

Interior of the updated Lada Vesta: learning from the Chinese?

In the coming years, AVTOVAZ will present several new products, including quite unexpected ones. In particular, at the beginning of December it became known about the appearance of the Van model in 2020, which will replace the Largus, and, if rumors are to be believed, it will be nothing more than a remade Renault Dokker (and maybe a Lodgy). The restyled Lada Vesta in itself is not a surprise, because sooner or later all automakers update their cars, but the pictures of the Vesta’s interior that have surfaced on the Internet will surprise many. According to the VsyakoRazno YouTube channel, they were made at a closed dealer presentation of Lada dealers in St. Petersburg, where consumer wishes regarding the modernization of Vesta were discussed. The 3D sketches shown there probably accumulated these wishes, and they greatly transformed Vesta’s interior.

The first thing that attracts attention is the large vertically oriented multimedia system screen on the center console. Now every second Chinese new product has one, and the larger the “tablet”, the more prestigious the car looks. It is curious that most European companies now prefer horizontally oriented screens. With the exception of Renault, which just puts “TVs” in the Chinese style, and since both Renault and Lada today are part of one large transnational alliance, it is not surprising that a vertical “tablet” appeared on Lada. Another thing is that its relevance on a relatively budget B-class model is quite questionable, and if such a “tablet” appears, it will probably only be with the most expensive versions of Vesta.

Also in the pictures you can see a new instrument panel, in which the speedometer and tachometer scales are located at the edges, and between them there is a large on-board computer screen. The door cards are completely new, more austere in appearance, with an accentuated window sill. To the right of the steering wheel, which has become similar to that of cars of the Chinese brand Lynk&Co, is the engine start button. Under the new climate control unit, consisting of three rotating knobs, a more spacious shelf for small items has appeared, but the cup holders have disappeared from this area - they are probably located in a niche behind the curtain, where the handbrake was previously located. The handbrake itself is now electromechanical, but, again, if Vesta gets one, it will only be in the top versions. Next to the handbrake button you can see the Ride Select washer, which debuted on the Lada XRAY Cross, that is, the images show one of the cross modifications of the updated Vesta.

Alas, we cannot vouch for the authenticity of the published photographs of the interior of the updated Vesta, nor for the “legend” of their appearance. If a restyled car really appears in 2019, then there can be no talk of collecting consumer opinions now; the design project should have been approved a long time ago. Perhaps this is just one of the search options for designing the Vesta’s interior, and not necessarily made at AVTOVAZ, because now on the Internet you can find a lot of independent, highly detailed design developments, like the completely new ZIM. But still, if Lada Vesta really gets a large “tablet”, then it will certainly become one of its main “features”, distinguishing the domestic model from localized competitors such as Kia Rio and Hyundai Solaris.

It is also expected that along with the restyling, the Lada Vesta will acquire a CVT version. Also, the Jatco CVT box will be received by the XRAY Cross, and, according to media reports, AVTOVAZ has already begun test assembly of such cars.

Lada Vesta review - engine, chassis and gearbox

The 1.6 liter engine has a power of 123 hp. s., which is at the level of cars of this class. The dynamics suffer a little against the background of the robotic gearbox. The handling is soft, the car clearly responds to steering turns. Experts call Vesta's steering one of the best in its class.

The chassis assembly allows you to fully enjoy steering even on the worst roads.

Modern steering wheel

The LADA Vesta steering wheel has undergone a big change compared to the standard VAZ ones. Just a glance is enough to notice that the Vesta steering wheel is a new exclusive development of the designers. The steering wheel, which looks quite modern, is made of three spokes, on which various radio control buttons are compactly located, hands free.

The steering wheel has a nice shape, looks stylish and is multifunctional. It is also possible to adjust the steering wheel in height and reach.
