Where is the gas cable located? How to lubricate the throttle cable on a VAZ and Lada car.

Lubricating the throttle cable will take you no more than 15 minutes. To lubricate the cable, you need to spill it with oil; even used motor oil will do. The cable is shed in such a way that it is completely covered with a layer of oil and runs in a protective braid without interference or jamming. To lubricate the throttle cable, you need to pour oil from the syringe where the arrow points in the figure below.

Oil for lubricating the cable is poured with a syringe so that it penetrates inside the protective braid of the throttle cable and lubricates it. Ideally, you need to pour until it seeps into the cabin, where the gas cable is connected to the accelerator pedal. The process of lubrication of the throttle cable can be speeded up by disconnecting the throttle cable from the throttle valve and positioning it as you see fit for faster penetration of oil into the protective braid of the throttle cable.

How to replace the cable on a VAZ-2110?

There are two ways to replace a torn drive, one of which is more time-consuming and requires removing additional elements from the car, but is more convenient.

With the second method, you don’t need to remove anything from the car and everything is done faster, although the ease of execution is worse. At the same time, the algorithm of work for both methods is the same, so let’s look at how everything is done using the first method, it is still more convenient and also does not take much time:

  1. We place the car on a flat surface or the side of the road (when performing work on the road) and immobilize it with a handbrake or wheel chocks placed under the wheels. Let's see if the cable is really torn, or if the reason for the failure is a broken release bearing fork. For ease of work in the engine compartment, the battery can be removed from the car;
  2. We release the cable in the engine compartment. If it is torn, then you can immediately pull part of it out of the winding simply by disengaging it from the lever with the clutch fork. In the case when the replacement is carried out due to “fluffing”, then first unscrew the nuts securing the cable braid (they are also adjusting) from the mounting bracket located on the gearbox housing.

We take two keys for 19 and loosen them, after which we take them out through the slot. Then we loosen the two nuts (8 and 10) of the clutch release drive and only after that we pull out the tip, for which we press the fork lever with our hands and remove the cable together with the thrust bushing.

Remove the windshield wiper bracket; to do this, unscrew two nuts. Pay attention to which direction the plane of the bracket is directed;

In order to quickly and efficiently replace a frayed or broken cable, you need to take several mandatory steps. We start by working under the hood, here the following actions are performed:

  1. Loosening of the fastening of the vehicle mounting bracket to the box.
  2. Removing the lower part of the cable from the clutch release fork.

So, a start has been made, and now we need to return to the salon. The following work is performed here:

  1. Disconnecting the cable from the pedal. To do this, you need to remove all the floor mats from the interior.
  2. Removing the lock washer. To do this you will need an ordinary minus screwdriver. Next, the pin connecting the part to the bracket is removed.
  3. Now you can get the cable itself. There is a special rubber cushion in the engine compartment, and under the steering wheel there is a hole through which the shell will need to be removed. We press on the pillow, remove the shell and remove the old element.

Dismantling work has been completed. Now we move directly to the procedure for installing a new vehicle. Installation begins from the interior. This is done as follows:

  1. We insert a new cable into the hole, mount its end on the pedal, and secure it with a lock washer.
  2. We secure the vehicle in the box. This must be done in such a way that the bushing is located on the bracket. Then the thread will be reliably protected.
  3. We insert the end of the cable into the fork. Here you can lubricate the cable with oil.

However, the work is not finished yet. For full operation of the clutch, it is necessary to adjust the vehicle and the pedal. Adjusting the cable is very simple. It is enough just to loosen the lock nut, ensuring free movement of the adjusting nut. This is what is used to tension the cable. However, be careful not to tighten it too tight. If the tension is excessive, the vehicle will soon break and you will have to carry out all the work all over again, but you also cannot tighten it too lightly. Then the clutch will not be adjusted. The last step is adjusting the pedal. Under it there is a special nut that needs to be removed. Immediately below it there is a lock nut that is tightened. Then we return the first nut to its place and place the rubber washer on the fork. Please note that the brake and clutch pedals must be at the same level. Otherwise, the clutch pedal will wear out much faster.

How to replace the throttle cable and some drive parts on a VAZ 2108-VAZ 21099?

Replacing the throttle cable:

1) At the beginning of the operation, by hand or with a screwdriver, slide the silicone protective cap along the throttle cable.

2) Next, using two wrenches, loosen both nuts that secure the cable sheath to the bracket.

3) After the nuts are loosened, remove the cable from the slot located in the bracket.

4) Next, moving to the throttle valve itself, disconnect the tip of the cable from its sector by hand.

5) Then move to the inside of the car, and use a screwdriver to disconnect the tip of the cable from the lever pin.

6) And at the end of the operation, when the last tip is disconnected, remove the cable from the front panel, thereby removing it from the car.

Note! To install a new throttle cable, perform the entire operation in reverse order. And when the operation is completed, adjust the cable using the two tension nuts! (You can find how to adjust the cable in the article: “Adjusting the throttle”)

Replacing the gas pedal:

1) To remove the accelerator pedal, use a flathead or Phillips screwdriver to unfasten the lever return spring.

2) Next, without removing the screwdriver from your hands, use it to pick up the locking bracket.

3) And then remove it from the drive.

4) Then remove the bushing from the bent tip of the gas pedal using a lever-type screwdriver.

5) Next, slightly moving the gas pedal to the side, remove the return spring.

6) Finally, carefully remove the gas pedal from its mounting position.

Note! The new pedal is installed in the reverse order. And all deformed parts: drive bushing, locking bracket and return spring must be replaced with new ones!

How to adjust the throttle cable on a VAZ 2110-VAZ 2112?

The note! Many cars are installed on cars of the tenth family, from 1.5 carburetor engines to 16 engines with injection valves, we immediately warn that carburetor engines of the Samara family have been installed on dozens, and we already have information about the settings of all dampers. 1) Let’s write briefly, because there is nothing complicated in setting, and there are not many nuances, in general, let’s start with a closed throttle (this is when the accelerator pedal is released and nothing presses on it), so if it is not completely closed, then you can adjust it using a cable, but not always using a cable to adjust the position of the closed damper, so the adjusting screw located in the stock Throttle valve (see Photo 1) will need to be tightened or, conversely, slightly loosened, thereby achieving a completely closed damper (and at the same time still shouldn't jam, keep that in mind), but you need to be careful with this screw, if it's too tight the car will just stall or won't start at all, and if you do it too tight, unscrew it, the idle speed will increase, wasting fuel too, and the shutter will be open, but the easiest way is to set it to a speed, for example, on a warm engine, you previously idled at 800 rpm. You will need to start the car, warm it up the same way and adjust that screw so it looks like 800 rpm on the tachometer needle again, it's all over with the damper adjustment, start adjusting the cable on 8 valve cars, Look for where the cable is c connects to the bracket with the bracket (see Photo 2), once you find it, take two wrenches and turn the adjusting nuts (nuts 1 and 2) to adjust the cable as needed (it slacks slightly, don't pull the cable too hard ) like 16 cars with valves, there you use pliers or your hands to remove the metal plate (see Photo 3) and then the cable is adjusted by moving it (back and front, see Photo 4) once you are happy with the tension (remember , do not pull it), the plate is pushed into place and this is where the adjustment is made, finally check to see if the throttle is fully open when the pedal is fully depressed and closed.

The note! Let's say a few words about the adjusting screw, do not confuse it with any other screws (for example, with screws A, by the way, they cannot be turned at all), it is on its side, for clarity, in the photo below it is marked with an arrow with the letter B!
