Good day everyone, I’ve been on the Internet for two days now searching for a bunch of wires coming into the connector on the instrument panel. I need to find out which wire the signal is coming from so that the “seat belt not fastened” lamp turns off, and what appears on this contact plus or minus or disappears? There is no such information in repair magazines, but if I simply didn’t see it there, and you poke my nose at it, I won’t be offended, but I’ll say thank you.

On-board computer capabilities

The LCD display accumulates data from a number of programmed sensors. They send information online for decryption and subsequent output.

For example:

  • daily mileage data;
  • remaining fuel;
  • current time;
  • current transmission;
  • temperature outside.

*configuration may vary depending on the technical characteristics and modification of the vehicle.

What are the advantages of the device?

Commercially available on-board controllers, adapted for Lada Grants, are equipped with displays and are endowed with a significant amount of information memory. This feature is very useful for owners with poor eyesight, and will also prove to be an indispensable assistant for female drivers who are unsure of the purpose of the information elements of the dashboard.

In view of the noted features, the on-board controller can contribute to more comfortable driving due to the efficiency and timeliness of providing the driver with route information. After all, it is capable of displaying information regarding the following points:

  • travel time;
  • fuel consumption during various driving modes;
  • average speed and specific fuel consumption;
  • remaining fuel equivalent to mileage;
  • speed of the car at the start of movement;
  • fixed motor temperature at a certain time, whose control avoids overheating of the unit;
  • occurrence of malfunctions in Lada Granta units that have feedback from the control unit;
  • timely heating and drying of candles;
  • temperature inside the cabin and a similar parameter outside.

In addition to the indicated functions, the on-board computer is equipped with options, including:

  • non-volatile storage device;
  • the ability to generate a signal about emerging problems;
  • supervisor: the option warns about the unauthorized start of the car (rollback), left lights and turn indicators on;
  • “afterburner”: the function allows you to cancel memory data that implies the use of fuel of questionable quality, and during sudden acceleration, return to the original settings.

To activate this option, you must use 95 gasoline as fuel.

The on-board computer in the basic modification is marked “State X1 M” (“Multi-Set”). This is the highest priority option for the Lada model family. Thanks to its compact dimensions, it can be easily integrated into the seat on the panel. If you are inclined to purchase a “standard” device, you will find instructions and cabling in the kit.

The on-board computer “State X1 M” has a processor capable of processing the entire amount of information required by the driver regarding the operation and diagnosis of on-board systems.

The computer diagnostic tester is equipped with a plasma lamp, a digital tachometer, and a speedometer. The tester allows you to accurately determine the position of the throttle valve of the power system and monitor the condition of the electrical network on board. This useful option allows you to prevent a possible short circuit or fire in the cable network in the car.

Typical malfunctions of the Granta liftback dashboard

  • mechanical damage, which contributed to the failure of the contact board and terminals;
  • exceeding the permissible voltage in the network, short circuit;
  • failure of one / several sensors, which resulted in the transmission of incorrect, incomplete information to the on-board computer;
  • ingress of moisture or aggressive chemical liquid, which resulted in failure;
  • manufacturing defects;
  • violation of installation technology;
  • purchase of non-original products.

Possible faults

If everything is clear with the description, then let’s move on to the malfunctions. Like any other electronic component, the Lada Granta instrument panel is also susceptible to various malfunctions.

What kind of breakdowns can occur in the operation of the control panel:

  1. The tidy is broken. If the shield fails, there can be quite a lot of symptoms. For example, only some or all of the devices will refuse to work. If this is the case, then the problem in this case may lie either in the power supply of the device or in its board. It is better to entrust repair problems to specialists.
  2. The tidy is glitchy. For example, all doors are closed and the unlocked door indicator is on, or the optics are not turned on, but the corresponding light on the dashboard is flashing. As a rule, in this case the problem lies precisely in the board (of course, if the sensors are working). If the problem is in the board, then flashing the dashboard firmware can solve it, but this option does not always help. It is possible that the electrical equipment lights are on on the dashboard due to a faulty sensor, so it would be a good idea to check its functionality.
  3. All devices work, but there is no backlight. If all the backlight bulbs do not work at once, then most likely the problem lies in a blown fuse or a damaged wire or connector. Checking the wiring is done using a multimeter.
  4. Only part of the light bulbs or one of them does not work. In this case, the malfunction consists of a burnt-out lamp; to eliminate it, the instrument panel in the Lada Granta is dismantled, after which the burnt-out lamps in it are replaced.
  5. The equipment indicator on the dashboard does not turn on. For example, you turn on the high beams, but the corresponding light does not light up. This may be due either to a failure of the indicator itself (the lamp is changed in the same way), or to a breakdown of the sensor. It is quite possible that there is poor contact between the light bulb and the wiring.
  6. Speedometer failure. The cause of the malfunction may lie in the board or speed sensor installed on the device. The situation is similar with sensors - fuel level, engine temperature. If they do not work or show incorrect values, then the problem should be looked for in the controllers themselves, wiring or board. It is possible that the devices are not working simply due to poor contact.

Sequence of actions when dismantling the dashboard

The reasons for disassembling and replacing the Grantback liftback dashboard are very varied: damage, installation of a new diode, etc.

  • We unscrew the three mounting bolts around the perimeter. Carefully remove the assembled unit so as not to damage the contact boards, electrical wiring, and terminals;
  • Remove the instrument panel mount for the Lada Granta liftback;
  • To replace the tachometer/speedometer needles, you need to move the lever up a little and turn it counterclockwise.

After the final replacement and maintenance, we reassemble the structure. Self-repair of the front panel of the Grant liftback is completed.

Dismantling instructions

To dismantle the device, you must follow the instructions:

  1. First remove the cover of the fuse box located to the left of the steering wheel.
  2. Unscrew the three bolts securing the plastic lining of the control panel.
  3. Dismantle the lining itself, and then unscrew four more bolts of the tidy. Pull it towards you.
  4. Next, squeeze the connector with the wires and disconnect it from the control panel.
  5. Dismantle the unit and repair or replace it. Assembly is carried out in reverse order.

1. Remove the cover from the unit.

2. Remove the tidy trim.

3. Unscrew the bolts and remove the shield.

Refinement of the Granta liftback dashboard

The basic equipment of the dashboard of the Lada Grant “Norma”, “Standard” is quite simple and uninformative. The defect was promptly corrected by manufacturing a new panel sample. It is installed exclusively on the “Lux” modification. An alternative option outside the factory version is provided. In order to increase the information content, a new instrument layout and external design are used:

  • the borders of the instruments are separated by a chrome insert;
  • more space is allocated for a computer monitor;
  • the owner can independently choose the color design of the backlight in order to reduce eye strain;
  • basic (important) information is now displayed at the top of the display.

Information about the Lada Granta instrument panel software

  • turn off the ignition;
  • press and hold the mileage reset button in pause mode;
  • activate the ignition;
  • release the pressed button.

Information about the software version and hardware model will appear on the monitor. The data must be used when purchasing a new shield.

What standard trip computers exist?

Option 2. Installed instead of a small plug next to the ACS unit

These were installed on “luxury” dozens. There are models AMK 211000 without diagnostics, and AMK 211001, AMK 211002 with diagnostics. You can find out which one you have by looking at the numbers on the back cover. To do this, naturally, the MK must be removed. If on the back there are the inscriptions AMK-211001 or AMK 211002, and in clock mode, when you press the “clock” button, the inscriptions Err appear and then two more - great. You have a full-fledged bookmaker.

If these are the inscriptions:

Unfortunately, this is a BC that either lacks diagnostic capabilities or has “cut-off” firmware.” Craftsmen resolder and reflash such models, but in my opinion they are not worth it.

It is very easy to remove such a MK. Disconnect the negative cable terminal from the battery terminal. We pry it off with a screwdriver...

remove the MK from its seat....

....disconnect the wire block from it.

Designations on the MK screen

The trip computer (MC), shown in the figure, is installed in a variant version instead of a clock. MK has 15 functions, divided into 3 groups. The group is selected using buttons 1, 2 and 3.

In each group, functions are divided into basic and additional. The main functions are navigated through the ring using buttons 1, 2 and 3. Additional functions are navigated through button 5. When the ignition is turned off, the computer is always in the “Current Time” mode. When the battery is removed, the clock progress and all accumulated parameters are retained for at least 1 month.

ADJUSTING THE COMPUTER FUNCTION Correcting the clock rate Press button 4 in the “Current time” mode.

At the sixth signal of the exact time, press button 1, this resets the seconds and rounds the clock readings.

Reviews from Lada Granta owners about the functionality of the dashboard

Positive
1.Nikolay, 39 years old: in general, I am satisfied with the information content of the console, the display is bright. True, it shines a little in the sun, but this is not so significant.
2.Konstantin, 41 years old: I bought Grant a year ago in the “Lux” configuration with a new dashboard. I'm 100% satisfied.
3.Vitaly, 44 years old: I bought a Granta in 2013, the old instrument panel was good, but it was deformed after an accident, I replaced it with a new version from the “Lux” version. Identical in fastenings.
4.Dmitry, 37 years old: during a side collision with Renault, the dashboard and dashboard were damaged. I didn’t upgrade to a luxury one, I bought my original one.
5.Vladimir, 39 years old: he will buy Grant second-hand, he is happy with everything, the panel is good and informative. True, at night it is too bright, sometimes it strains the eyesight.
6.Kirill, 45 years old: I work as a taxi driver, I drive all the time, I’m happy with the panel, it’s informative. The on-board computer quickly displays all the necessary data.
7.Vladislav, 34 years old: after a major overhaul, friends recommended installing a new panel from the Luxury configuration, but he left the old one and is happy with everything.
Negative
1.Vladlen, 44 years old: the old instrument panel is not very informative, often displays information and speedometer readings incorrectly. Installed from Lux configuration. Now there are no complaints.
2.Sergey, 33 years old: after the accident, I replaced the front console, including the panel, since the old version was unfinished and damp.
3.Vyacheslav, 39 years old: I drove the original device for a month and replaced it with a luxury version, it is much better and more informative.

Owners' opinions on the functionality of the dashboard were divided, as expected. If we objectively compare the two panel models, then the winner is the “Lux” package. Regarding the duration of operation, efficiency of data output, and accuracy of readings, they are identical. The internal filling is the same, with the exception of the external design.

Panel Features

Even if this is your first time driving a Lada Granta, the signs on the instrument panel will be informative and understandable on an intuitive level. The manufacturer tried to take into account the wishes and requirements of the car owners. The standard tachograph-speedometer pair is distinguished by large, clear numbers that are easy to read. At night, a soft green backlight is provided that does not strain the driver’s vision.

The assembly of the entire panel is satisfactory:

  • Smooth and minimal gaps show the accuracy of the fitting of the elements. There are no cracks or distortions, which is so often characteristic of domestic cars.
  • High-quality, pleasant to the touch, soft plastic.
  • The pleasant design of the new instrument panel on the Lada Granta in classic black also pleases with its excellent assembly.
  • The absence of squeaks and crunches, even after long-term use, does not irritate and does not create extraneous sounds in the cabin.

The panel is assembled securely and is well fixed in the cabin.

Deciphering error codes for Lada Kalina (1st and 2nd generation)

Lada Kalina is already equipped from the factory with a special on-board computer mounted directly into the instrument panel.

Thanks to this, you can react as quickly as possible and diagnose the problem that has arisen. There is a self-diagnosis mode for this.

Unless the previous owner was motivated by selfish goals and “turned out” these bulbs, in which case they need to be replaced.

The video shows entering the diagnostic mode of the on-board computer on the Lada Kalina:

Errors are shown as a digital code and in this article we will tell you how to read them correctly and make the right decision.

About energy consumption

The BC STATE model X1 G consumes 0.015 Amps when in standby mode. The rest of the time the current can reach 200 mA. In practice it is difficult to obtain a value exceeding 170-180 mA. For comparison:

  • Good (expensive) signaling, standby mode - 10-15 mA;
  • Conventional signaling with a key fob - 25 mA;
  • Alarm in the “Disarmed” mode – 100-300 mA.

In general, our BC is quite “gluttonous”, but not as much as an alarm system.
