Installation instructions

Installation manual for Starline A62:

  1. The ignition and all electrical devices in the car are turned off. It is necessary to de-energize the on-board network; to do this, disconnect the terminal with the negative contact from the battery.
  2. A microprocessor is installed inside the vehicle. To install the unit, you should choose a place that is maximally protected from external influences, moisture and elevated temperatures. The module is installed on a flat surface, preferably behind the instrument panel, this will ensure a minimum length of wires for connection. Plastic clamps or self-tapping screws are used for fixation. To protect the microprocessor module from moisture and vibration during driving, the device can be additionally wrapped in cellophane and foam rubber.
  3. A siren is installed under the hood of the car if one is to be used. The use of this device is not necessary, since alarm signals can be organized using the steering horn. If an autonomous siren is used, then during installation it is necessary to ensure free access to the keyhole installed in it.
  4. A transceiver with a built-in antenna is placed on the car window. The glass surface is first cleaned and degreased, which will ensure high-quality contact. There should be no electronic devices or metal parts of the body within 5 cm of the transceiver. Their presence will cause interference and reduce the range of the key fob.
  5. The shock and sensitivity sensor is installed in the car interior, preferably in the central part of the body. For installation, you can choose a metal partition separating the engine compartment. The device is fixed on a flat surface using plastic clamps, screws or glue. The use of plastic or rubber gaskets is not allowed; this will lead to incorrect operation of the sensor and its premature operation.
  6. Limit switches are installed on the hood, trunk and doors. Installation of devices is not permitted in drains. The wiring from the sensors is routed to the microprocessor module.
  7. The button to enter the service mode is located inside the car. It is recommended to hide it, but in such a way that the consumer has access to the device from the driver’s seat.

Setting up autorun

Starline A62 alarm systems do not have an automatic engine start function. But its implementation is possible after installing an additional module. To do this, you can use Starline devices (for example, M31) or other analogues. Depending on the model, control is usually carried out through calls or SMS messages. The module, receiving a command with a certain code, performs the function remotely.

Emergency alarm shutdown

If the communicator from Starline A62 is lost or damaged, the security mode can be disabled using the service button:

  1. The driver's door is opened with a key. This will trigger the siren alarms.
  2. The key is inserted into the lock and turned to turn on the ignition. After activation, the button to enter emergency service mode is pressed several times. The number of “clicks” must correspond to the first digit of the personal code.
  3. The ignition in the car is turned off. If a unique password is programmed, the security mode should be disabled. In confirmation, the car's external lights will blink twice. If the code is two-digit, then similar steps are repeated to enter the next character.

Factory reset

To reset all parameters to factory values, perform the following steps:

  1. The car's ignition is turned off.
  2. The emergency service mode entry button is pressed 9 times.
  3. The key is turned in the lock to turn on the ignition. To confirm entering the reset menu, the siren will sound nine times.
  4. Then the service mode key is pressed one more time. One siren signal will indicate that the settings have been reset.

Key Features

Features specific to the Starline A62 alarm system:

  1. The presence of eight security zones operating independently from each other.
  2. Possibility of activating the protection mode both using the communicator and using the Valet service key.
  3. Passive blocking mode of the power unit.
  4. Availability of a personal password. The PIN code can be used to unlock the system, activate the security mode and control basic functions.
  5. Anti-hijack or anti-robbery option. The function is intelligent and is designed to prevent car theft in the event of a violent seizure of the car. The driver, after his car has been selected, can activate the function. After some time (usually 1 minute, but the interval can be programmed) after activation, the engine is blocked. The time interval is necessary so that the attacker can drive the car away from the car owner to a safe distance.
  6. The presence of a warning zone, as well as the ability to completely deactivate the sensitivity controller when the protection mode is turned on.
  7. Option for separate opening of door locks.
  8. Function of bypassing non-working security zones. If, when the protection mode is activated, the alarm has performed diagnostics and detected non-working zones, they will be automatically disabled.
  9. Availability of a memory unit built into the electronic module. It stores information about car alarm alarms with identification of the affected zone. Also, the presence of memory allows you to remember the alarm status. If the battery is disconnected, then after turning it on again, the alarm will return to the state in which it was before this event.
  10. Using an anti-theft installation, the consumer can implement two locks of the power unit. This will provide additional engine protection. The signaling itself has a built-in universal lock. To turn it on, the consumer does not need to use additional relays. There is also one external blocking of the internal combustion engine.
  11. Availability of an input for connecting an additional sensitivity controller.
  12. Availability of an output for connecting a silent alarm signal. Information about alarm activation will be sent to the user's communicator. Instead of an alarm signal, lights may simply go off.
  13. Presence of panic mode. Activating it will scare strangers away from the car. When the mode is turned on, alarm signals will start working, and the light alarm will also be activated.
  14. The ability to automatically close or open door locks when the internal combustion engine is running or switched off.

The Starline A62 alarm system does not have the security option with the engine running.

Separately, the service capabilities of the signaling should be highlighted:

  1. The presence of two additional channels, with which you can implement various service functions.
  2. To control the central locking of the car, a special power relay is used, designed for a current of up to 10 amperes.
  3. Possibility of implementing the Comfort function. Enabling it will ensure automatic closing of the electric sunroof, as well as the windows, when the protection mode is activated.
  4. There is an option to delay the light signal after closing the door locks. The delay can be set to 5, 35 or 60 seconds.
  5. Option to search for a car in the parking lot. If the driver forgets where he left the car, he can turn on this function. As a result, the alarm lights will begin to blink, which will allow you to find the car.
  6. Silent activation of the protection mode.
  7. Availability of an automatic signaling algorithm.
  8. The consumer has the opportunity to choose the duration of the signals sent to the central locking.
  9. Option to call the car owner from the salon. To do this, use the button located on the transceiver module.

Video - Installing StarLine A62 on Peugeot 308

For the next test, the Starline company presented two models of Starline alarm systems, A62 and B62 series. As a matter of principle, I asked not to bring models with automatic start, because... The “autorun” function does not add anything serious in terms of protection to the overall picture, but is only a service function. All the conclusions described below in no way serve as a guide to the selection of specific products, but only reflect the subjective assessment of the author.

Starline A62

What immediately catches your eye is the absence of an antenna. (it is hidden inside the case). The bodies of both key fobs are made of simple, fairly thick plastic with a minimum number of elements, which creates confidence in reliability. The top cover is attached quite firmly without the use of screws, the battery can be changed without difficulty.

The information display is informative, but in my opinion it is oversaturated with status icons. When requesting the status, it became possible to see not only the interior temperature, but also the battery voltage.

We open the lid and the first thing that caught our eye was the support phone number. We're calling. A minute of waiting, they picked up the phone and answered my questions correctly. It turned out that technical support works from 10-00 to 19-00. I'm calling at 18.55... They picked up the phone and answered. The key fob is bulky and large, but the ergonomics of use are excellent, the buttons are pressed easily and conveniently. The strength of the key fob was tested together with our friends - the company Ugona.net

Three key fobs of the A62 series fell under gravity onto the tiled floor, starting from a height of 1 meter and up to a height of 2.2 meters in increments of 0.2 meters. At each height, the fall occurred three times: the LCD display, the antenna and the buttons. Those. each keychain fell 21 times. All three key fobs remained in full working order, which was a pleasant surprise.

— high reliability of the key fob body; — availability of technical support telephone; — high impact resistance; — no external antenna; — ergonomics of keystrokes;

The installation was done efficiently, no traces of active production components were found. The connectors are securely attached to the board; reasonable efforts to try to tear the wires out of the connector socket ended in vain.

Anti-theft function

The entire anti-theft function boils down to an attempt to notify the car owner about the start of theft by sending an alarm message to the key fob, or to inform the owner about the loss of communication with the car using the “communication control” function if the thief jammed the alarm messages. To make theft more difficult, the engine blocking relay is built into the alarm unit, or the external blocking relay can be controlled by an analog output.

Therefore, if the alarm unit itself is detected in the cabin, disabling the blocking will not be difficult. A cracking light indication control relay, which remains electromechanical and has a characteristic sound (crackling) during pulse operation, will help the thief find the unit in the car when alarmed.

The A series unit has two additional channels controlled by a command from the remote control, which allows, if desired, control of devices such as Webasto, door pins, trunk lock, etc.

— high-quality installation of the block; — high-quality mounting harnesses; — the presence of two additional universal programmable channels.

— analog control of the blocking relay (no digital relays included) — crackling relay control indication, allowing you to find the alarm unit.

Starline B62

The body is made of higher quality plastic, the antenna is also hidden inside. The key fob fits well in the hand, the ergonomics of key pressing are excellent. Separately, I would like to note the excellent engineering solution to make a contrasting large arming button. It is easy to press by touch, and if such a remote control falls into the hands of a child, he will not be able to do anything other than arm the car.

Three key fobs of the StarLine B62 series turned out to be less resistant when dropped, stopping one after another when dropped from a height of 1.6 meters. The failure was accompanied by cracks in the LCD display matrix.

The pros and cons are absolutely similar to the A series, but the B series already has 4 additional channels, this allows you to control several devices at once.

Alarms of the StarLine A62 and B62 series are minimally resistant to theft and cannot be considered as a means of protection against theft. However, they can be confidently used as part of any security complex, assigning them a number of functions:

  • remote control of arming/disarming mode;
  • reliable notification of the owner about the start of theft or loss of communication with the car;
  • the proposed interactive exchange mode with increased noise immunity makes it impossible for the factory code grabber 803 to operate;
  • expanded ability to control external devices.

Please note that we do not install alarm systems. You can purchase StarLine alarms and install them in Moscow from our colleagues at the StarLine installation center.

Owner reviews

I drive a VAZ 2107. I chose the alarm based on price, as well as the presence of additional qualities. I don’t think that VAZs are being stolen from anyone now, so the main emphasis was on the convenience of the alarm. The choice fell on Starline B9, which, in addition to security functions (very good, by the way), can also boast additional autostart options and a decent price. The alarm has been on the car for a year now – no glitches and working properly, so I’m happy.

I’ll say right away - I bought it at the price of Starline B9. As for me, 4 thousand for a budget alarm system, but with good options, is quite good. It was recommended by a neighbor in the garage who uses it all the time, and especially praised the turbo timer, so I took it. It won't hurt me on diesel either. So far, the system has been working properly for six months, although I was a little afraid that I had screwed it up, because I installed it myself, and for me this was my first experience. But no complaints. The only drawback is poor sensitivity to the signal from the key fob. Already from the balcony of the 9th floor the car is not reachable, which is inconvenient. But the rest is all good.

A proven security system with a built-in Kan interface, auto-start, personal encryption keys, Dialog authorization and a built-in smart start function. The alarm is made taking into account the extreme factors of urban wave disturbances. Specialized in mid-level and business class cars.

The dialogue encryption method, reliably protected from the reading devices of vehicle thieves, is the main feature and advantage of the Starline alarm system.
However, the alarm system, which is popular among domestic motorists, has a number of additional functions. In particular, auto start, all the delights of which can be fully appreciated in the harsh winter. Let's figure out how to enable autostart on the Starline alarm system from a key fob - remote control (RC), as well as using a special application for smartphones. Let's find out why autorun doesn't work. Let us shed light on other issues directly related to this topic. Fact. All models of the Starline security system are equipped with a self-diagnosis function. If any element of the system fails, the car owner will receive a corresponding notification on the key fob.

Automatic engine start by timer

Also, the Starline B9 alarm system has the ability to autostart at certain time intervals. To set this parameter you need to:

  • turn off the ignition, press the Valet key six times;
  • turn the key, make sure there is sound and light confirmation;
  • press the Valet button three more times;
  • Now, by clicking on the remote control button, you can set the desired time after which the engine will start on its own. The first button is 2 hours, the second is 3 hours, the third is 4 hours, the first is long - once every 24 hours;
  • confirmation and memorization are also automatic.
  • You need to successively press keys 3 and 1 to move the cursor to the fan icon. Afterwards, a melodic signal from the remote control will sound;
  • To enable this mode, you now need to press the second key.

Start on alarm

In Starline B9 systems, you can configure automatic start on an alarm clock. You should first make sure that the time on the key fob is set correctly in order for the program to run correctly.

You need to position the cursor on the corresponding clock icon (using the third button). Then you need to press the first button and hear a melodic signal. The time on the key fob should blink, and the car's dimensions should blink once.

Now the corresponding icon is displayed on the remote control, and the system has begun the countdown to autostart. The alarm clock indicators themselves are set in the same place as the clock parameter.

  • You need to successively press keys 3 and 1 to move the cursor to the clock icon. Afterwards, a melodic signal from the remote control will sound;
  • To turn off this mode, you now need to press the second key.

Setting autostart based on temperature

To automatically start based on temperature, this operation is carried out as follows:

  • turn the ignition key to the OFF position, press the Valet service key 6 times;
  • turn on the ignition, listen to 6 sound and light signals from the car, confirming entry into the programming mode;
  • press the Valet button four more times;
  • Now on the key fob we press the buttons corresponding to the required value (1st key = -5 degrees, 2nd = -10 degrees, 3rd = -18 degrees, long press of the first button = -25 degrees);
  • confirmation of the received command is the corresponding number of sound or light signals (from 1 to 4). Memorizing this function will be automatic; you just need to not press anything for five seconds.

Temperature-based autostart can also be activated from the key fob - you need to use buttons 3 and 1, move the cursor to the thermometer icon and activate this option. As confirmation, one beep from the key fob will sound and the headlights will flash several times.

Below is a video with instructions on how to program your car to autostart based on engine or interior temperature.

How to disable engine auto start

You can control the engine start automatically using the Starline B9 key fob. You need to press the first key on the key fob for a long time, and then press the third button once. In one cycle, the car can make four attempts to start the engine. In case of failure, the message SP will be displayed on the remote control screen.

You can also remotely extend the operation of an already running engine. The key combination here is similar - press the first button for a long time, and then press the third key briefly. If you need to remotely stop the engine, you need to press the second button on the key fob for a long time, and then briefly click the third again.

Operating instructions for the StarLine A62 CAN alarm system and how to enable autostart

This car security system provides a full range of security and service functions, as well as interactive authorization.
Thus, an interactive control code with personal keys 128 bits long is capable of eliminating intelligent electronic hacking and is resistant to all available code grabbers. In order to protect the code, the most advanced dialog coding algorithm is used today, as well as the innovative frequency hopping method. In this method, when transmitting commands, a specialized transceiver changes frequencies many times according to a special program at the time of each transmission. A solution of this level, also known under the technical term: “method of possible spectrum expansion with frequency hopping,” is used for the first time in a car alarm control system and is a significant complication of attempts to crack the existing code.
