The new product of the domestic automobile industry, Lada XRay, has been rolling off the concern’s assembly line for almost a year now and is being tested by car enthusiasts in real conditions on Russian roads.

Those who are just planning to purchase a car and choose a model for themselves, at the first stages of selection are interested in parameters that are known without testing, in particular, dimensions and other geometric characteristics, since knowledge of these parameters allows one to assess how well X Rey’s overall dimensions correspond to the class machine and engine power.

Let us consider in detail the dimensions of the Lada X Rey, dividing them into groups according to characterized parameters.

Dimensions

Lada XRay is created on the Renault Sandero Stepway platform, but with a slightly larger base.

  • Length of Lada X Ray/Renault Sandero Stepway – 4,164 m/4,080 m.
  • Wheelbase "Rey"/Stepway - 2,592 m/2,588 m.
  • Width of Lada X Ray/Renault Sandero Stepway: along the rear wheel arches – 1.764 m/1.757 m;
  • according to the mirrors when unfolded – 1,980 m/1,997 m.
  • Height of “XRay”/Stepway – 1,570 m/1,590 m (with roof rails).
  • The front overhang of the Lada XRay is 834 mm, the rear overhang is 738 mm. These values ​​correspond to:

    • approach angle – 21 degrees;
    • departure angle – 34 degrees.

    The parameters and dimensions of the X-Ray are not outstanding for a crossover, but for the declared class of this Lada model they are acceptable and quite comfortable.

    You should pay attention to the fact that the width along the arches of the rear wheels of the Stepway is smaller, and wider along the mirrors when unfolded. This is explained by the large size of the Renault mirrors, while the Lada XRay mirrors are disproportionately small in relation to the dimensions of the body, as a result of which they do not provide the best visibility.

    The height of the Lada XRay is quite significant - the car without roof rails is only 2 cm lower than the Renault Sandero Stepway with roof rails, but this is compensated by the larger base and width of the X Ray.

    The track width of the Lada X Ray is (R-16 wheels):

    • front wheels: along the axles – 1482 mm;
    • overall – 1983 mm.
  • rear wheels:
      along the axes – 1513 mm;
  • overall – 1764 mm.
  • The values ​​of these parameters, despite the ground clearance of 195 mm, ensure good stability of the car against rollover when cornering.

    Trunk dimensions

    The standard luggage compartment of the Lada X Ray, at first glance, is too small for a crossover - this impression is supported by the size of the luggage opening, which is also narrowed in the upper half:

    • opening height –80.0 cm;
    • opening width – 99.0 cm.

    However, the trunk volume in the standard configuration is 361 liters, and the internal dimensions are:

    • length – 79.0 cm;
    • width – 90.0 cm;
    • height (up to removable shelf) – 40.0 cm.

    Folding the rear seat backs allows you to increase the volume of the luggage compartment to 1200 liters, and the length to 1700 mm. The diagonal length of the trunk will be 1850 mm. An additional folded front passenger seat will increase the volume of the luggage compartment to 1300 liters, and the large diagonal to 2500 mm.

    The loading height of the Lada XRay is 730 mm - a considerable amount, but the trunk lid in the open position is at a height of 181 cm, which allows you to safely walk under it during loading.

    Interior dimensions

    The interior of the Lada X Ray, like the trunk, is small for a crossover, but this is due to the size of the body. The maximum height of the cabin (from floor to ceiling in the middle part) is 1220 mm, its width at shoulder level is the same along the entire length - 1330 mm.

    The front seat cushions are located at a height of 180 mm from the floor, the rear sofa – 260 mm. The distance between the backs of the front and rear seats is from 600 to 815 mm.

    The front seats have enough room for a comfortable posture, but when moving them back, second-row passengers are forced to find an acceptable position for their legs.

    All doors open wide enough, and the rear door openings are wide enough for loading onto the sofa and transporting large cargo.

    The level of the “window sills” of the side windows of the Lada X Ray is too high, which visually adds strength and consistency to the body, but reduces side visibility.

    The top-end XRay configuration has a multimedia system in the cabin with a 7-inch diagonal color display, which, given its diagonal size, is not loaded enough with information and contains, apart from the fuel level, only one of the displayed parameters.

    Pros and cons of the trunk

    The trunk volume of the X-Ray is really small, but if you fold the rear seats, the displacement increases several times, which allows you to transport long cargo, such as skis or construction boards.

    Volume is volume, but what about comfort inside the luggage compartment? Everything here is quite good: there is nothing superfluous in the trunk, the floor is perfectly flat, and the wheel arches are hidden from the owner’s eyes and do not protrude from the sides. The top shelf can be removed if necessary.

    The luggage compartment is lined with high-quality, durable plastic; the compartment is illuminated in the form of a small lamp located on the left wall.


    There are also small hooks on the walls so that you can hook the shelf. An interesting feature of the trunk of the Tolyatti crossover is the double floor.

    It sounds tempting, but in reality, this is an almost useless and not very convenient function. The only positive aspect of the “double bottom” is the presence of clamps in the upper part. They make it possible to secure cargo with special straps so that it does not “ride” around the trunk.

    The back of the rear sofa in XRAY folds at a slight angle, which is not very convenient, because the loading area is uneven. But the rear bumper does not protrude beyond its plane. This makes it easier to load things inside the trunk and reduces the risk of damage to the bumper.

    Directly in front of the trunk there is a metal protruding part of the body, a kind of threshold. The fact is that this threshold is simply painted, there are no linings on it, which threatens this part of the trunk with scratches and abrasions.

    The engineers overlooked this, because even the Niva had plastic linings in that place. The rear door of the car, leading to the luggage compartment, turned out to be quite weighty, sometimes you need to strain a little to lower it. But thanks to its weight, the door closes easily, even if you release it in the middle of its trajectory.
