Working principle of the door lock
The VAZ 2107 door lock has internal teeth; turning the key sets them in motion. When closing, the pins move in such a way that they fall into the grooves and the device is locked. If jamming occurs or difficulty opening/closing the blade occurs, it means that the pins have not completed their path completely. When opening, a decoupling displacement occurs. The teeth during movement create a kind of coding when the key makes a revolution. Failure is most often associated with faulty pins, ice getting into the core of the device or a broken pin.
If the driver hears a creaking sound when turning the key or jamming, then disassembling the device is required. If the key does not fully enter the keyhole or if the mechanism is damaged, replacement of the cylinder or the entire mechanism is indicated. Wear of internal elements is the most common reason for repairs. To carry out this procedure, you need to purchase a new cylinder or lock, prepare a set of tools and lubricant. After disassembling the device and visually, installing a new element is not always required. Sometimes it is enough to lubricate the pins with silicone.

The reasons for changing a lock may be different for everyone. In my case, the key is bent and there is a crack on it.
So, what do we need: 1. Phillips screwdriver - 1 pc. 2. Locks themselves - 2 pcs. 3. Door trim fasteners - 20 pcs (it is better to buy in advance, since they usually break during dismantling)
Unscrew positions 1-3 with a Phillips screwdriver. Positions 4-5 are easy to remove. Next, remove the casing by prying it up from below and unclip the fasteners.
Position 1 - remove the lock rod by prying it with a flat screwdriver, as it is not easy to remove. Position 2 - holding bracket, also pry it up with a screwdriver or pull the ear from above with pliers (do not lose it)
After which the lock is removed and a new one is installed in its place. Assembly is carried out in reverse order. The only difficulty is putting the rod back on. The problem is solved with pliers.

Adjusting locks on VAZ 2101-VAZ 2107
First, draw a line next to the clamp with a marker: when the bolts are loosened, you will know in what position the clamp was.
Loosen the bolts (indicated by the arrow) that go under the wrench or perhaps even the hex key. Then move the latch to a position where the door closes well and stays on the move. Wrap them all the way, taking into account the gaps at the doors. Be sure to ensure that the gaps are even and that the hinges do not dangle or play.
Installation and repair of VAZ 2107 doors
Despite the fact that VAZ 2107 cars appeared a very, very long time ago, many residents of our country still use them. Owners of VAZ 2107 cars often have to repair their cars, including on their own. Thus, car enthusiasts often have to do body repairs on their own, during which sometimes they need to replace doors or carry out other door repair work, and for this you should study the structure of VAZ 2107 doors.
How to remove the front door of a VAZ 2107?
To remove the front door, you will only need basic knowledge about the structure of VAZ 2107 doors, thanks to which most owners of the “Seven” cope with such repairs on their own.
So, to remove the front door from the car, you will need to purchase a special impact screwdriver. With this tool, you can easily loosen tightly tightened screws on the door. In addition, to remove the front door you will need a ten-size wrench. Finally, before starting work, you will need to find an assistant - the fact is that the VAZ 2107 door is quite heavy and you definitely won’t be able to hold it without help.

After this, take an impact screwdriver and use it to loosen the screws securing the door hinges. Sharp blows of the hammer are repeated until the screws are unscrewed.

How to remove the door trim of a VAZ 2107?
Often, owners of VAZ 2107 cars need to remove the interior door trim - this is done before starting work on the window lifters or door lock mechanism. If you know the structure of the VAZ 2107 door, then you already know what the upholstery is = it is a sheet of fiberboard, which is covered with leatherette on top.
What needs to be done to remove the door trim? First you will need to remove the armrest. To do this, you will have to use a Phillips screwdriver - with its help you will need to unscrew the three screws that secure the armrest. Note that the screws are covered with decorative plugs; you can remove them using a flat-head screwdriver by slightly prying them up.
Then you need to remove the window lifter drive handle - it is fixed with a plastic retainer, which must be released using a flat screwdriver. After this, the handle can be easily removed with the lock.
Now you will need to slightly pry the handle with which the door opens with a screwdriver - it can be easily removed.
The upholstery itself is attached to the door using plastic clips - they should be pressed out with a screwdriver, and this should be done so that the clips come out of the holes that are on the door panel
It is important to remember that the clamps are made of plastic, so you need to work with them very carefully. When reinstalling the door trim, you may need to replace the clips, as they may no longer hold the trim in place too well.
How to adjust the door of a VAZ 2107
The front door of the VAZ 2107 is adjusted more often. This is especially true for the driver's side door. Door adjustment involves two stages:
- adjusting door hinges;
- adjusting door locks.
- set the impact screwdriver to the unscrewing mode;
- loosen the hinge fastening screws with a sharp blow of a hammer;
- slightly lower or raise the door to even out the gap between it and the car body;
- tighten the fastening screws;
- check the door position;
- repeat the adjustment if necessary.
When the position of the door in the opening is adjusted, you can proceed to adjusting the lock, or rather, to adjusting the position of the latch. This is done like this:
- draw a line around the perimeter of the latch with a marker (this way you can find out its initial position;
- Using a 10mm wrench, loosen the three bolts securing the lock retainer;
- move the latch down or up so that the lock fits freely into it without hitting the top or bottom;
- if the door closes “with one click,” the latch must be moved slightly outward, but if it closes easily but dangles, move it deeper;
- tighten the fastening bolts;
- check the operation of the door lock;
- repeat the adjustment if the door does not close well enough.

- Now you need to unscrew the two nuts with a 10mm wrench, which secure the device from the inside.

Now let’s pay attention to the issue of replacing the interior handle on a VAZ 2107. We replace the inside door handle on the “seven” in cases where it jams and does not work to open, but more often than not it just breaks
The removal process looks like this:
- Initially, the upholstery is dismantled.
- To remove the product located inside, you need to use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the two mounting screws.
- After unscrewing the bolts, the product should be taken inside.
- A rod is attached to the product, which can be removed only after the handle is removed from the inside of the door.
- After removing the rod, you must put it on the new device in the same way. For this purpose there is a special fixing rubber insert.
- A new product with a fixed rod is inserted from the inside, after which it is fixed with the same two screws.
- Finally, you should install the casing in place and enjoy the work done.
Replacing the larva
There is another important element in the front door, which is called the lock cylinder. This is a device through which it is possible to lock the door from the outside with a key, which prevents it from being opened by third parties. The cylinder requires replacement only when it fails or gets stuck when opening, and it is not possible to lock the car.
On the VAZ 2106 and VAZ 2109 car models, the cylinders are built into the handles themselves, while on the “seven” this product is located below the door opening mechanism, so its replacement is carried out separately.
To dismantle and change the larva, you will need to perform the following manipulations:
- The upholstery and other elements from inside the car door are removed.
- It is necessary to disconnect the rod from the cylinder, through which the lock is blocked when the key is turned.
- Using pliers you need to remove the locking bracket.
- The mechanism itself is removed, together with the seal ring.
Installation of a new device is carried out in the reverse order of removal. All VAZ-2107 handles are changed in a similar way, and after the change process it is necessary to check their performance.
The serviceability of the devices in question on a VAZ 2107 car is very important. Front doors
On the “nine” the front doors are adjusted as follows:
- The position of the latch changes;
- Before carrying out this procedure, you need to carefully outline the contours of the latch on the stand;
- If the front door of the “nine” closes too tightly, then you need to loosen the bolts of the clamp, move it a little outward, and then tighten the screws thoroughly;
- If the front door closes poorly, then the latch must be pushed inward.
Note. During the operation, care must be taken to ensure that the door does not sink or protrude relative to the body.
- If the door drops below the level when closing, then the latch must be raised;
- If the door rises when closing, but sags in the open position, the latch must be lowered.
Note. To ensure that the adjustment of the latch is not disrupted in the future, it is reasonable to install a gasket under it. It is better that it is not rubber, but waterproof sandpaper. The gasket will help fix the distance of the latch from the post so that the pin of the mechanism does not touch the cover of the external lock.
- If you need to adjust the inner handle of the lock, you should move the bracket under the fastening screws. There are oval holes on the inner panel of the door that will help in this matter;
- If the internal handle does not cope with its duties and the door does not open well, then the bracket bolts are loosened, the handle is moved to the desired position, and the screws are tightened.
Rear doors
Adjusting the door on a VAZ 2109
The rear doors are adjusted as follows:
- The bolts securing the hinges are loosened, the gaps between the body and the door (see Malfunctions of VAZ 2109 doors: how to fix them) are adjusted taking into account the draft and the screws are properly tightened.
Helpful advice. To determine the amount of displacement of the door hinges, it is necessary to outline the contours on the counter in advance. To check the draft, apply a load to the door, slightly open by 5 degrees, with a uniform increase to 100 kg and then decrease to zero.
Hood
Adjusting the door of a VAZ 2109
The procedure for adjusting the hood cover is as follows:
- The height of the pin changes in relation to the front surfaces of the front wings and radiator trim. A pin and springs secure the hood in the closed position. The pin itself is screwed into the hood and locked with a lock nut. There are cups installed on it with a spring between them;
- To adjust the hood cover, you need to loosen the hinge bolts, move the hood so that the gaps between it and the body are as they should be, and then tighten the screws thoroughly;
- If the hood lid does not close well, then you need to loosen the fastening of the pin, move it until it matches the lock socket, and then tighten the lock nut thoroughly;
- If the problem with closing the hood is in the lock, then with the hood open, you need to outline the contours of the lock body, and then move it to the desired position. After that, tighten the bolts and check how the lid closes.

Fifth door
To adjust the fifth door on a VAZ 2109, do the following:
- You should know in advance that the goal will be to achieve a gap size around the perimeter of 5/2 mm;
- It is necessary to outline the contours of the lock, loosen the hinges, and then move the latch to a new position. The bolts are tightened lightly, the work is checked, and then finally secured.

Note. You should know that the luggage compartment lid hinges on the “nine” have a torsion mechanism that facilitates easy opening. If you move the ends of the torsion bars to one of the locking teeth, you can adjust the opening gain adjustment.
Door handles
Door handles (external and internal) of the VAZ 2107 are designed to unlock the door. Over time, these parts may fail, which means they need to be replaced.
External door handle
External door handles of the VAZ 2107 are left and right, which must be taken into account when purchasing and replacing. In addition, the part can be made of metal or plastic. A metal handle, although more expensive, is much more reliable, which is especially important in winter: you can apply pressure without fear of breaking it if it suddenly freezes.

How to remove a door handle
To replace the external door handle, you will need to prepare the following set of tools:
- socket wrench 8;
- flat screwdriver.
The dismantling procedure consists of the following steps:
- Raise the door glass all the way.
- We dismantle the door trim.
- Disconnect the outer handle drive rod from the locking mechanism lever.
- Using a socket wrench, unscrew the handle fastener, which consists of two 8-mm nuts.
- We dismantle the outer handle, removing the part from the hole in the door along with the rod and seal.
How to install a door handle
After removing the old handle, you can begin installing the new part:
- Lubricate the rubbing areas with lubricant, for example, Litol-24.
- We install all dismantled parts in the reverse order.
Interior door handle
In most cases, the internal door unlocking handle on a VAZ 2107 has to be removed when dismantling the lock or when replacing the handle itself if it breaks, which happens extremely rarely.
How to remove the handle
To remove the inner handle you will need a flathead and Phillips screwdriver. Dismantling is carried out in this way:
- Remove the door trim.
- Unscrew the 2 screws securing the handle.
- We take the part inside the door.
- To remove the handle from the inner cavity of the door, remove the rod.
External handles and solving problems with them
If there is no external damage, then you will have to disassemble the element. To work you will need a number 20 screwdriver. Step by step instructions:
- The plug is removed. It is pryed off with the edge of a screwdriver.
- The screw is unscrewed. It is located at a depth of 6 cm. It is important to make no more than four turns clockwise.
- Carefully remove the handle, behind which the latch wire is pulled.
- The part is disconnected from the wiring. They are attached to each other by a plug.
After disassembly, the internal parts are cleaned and, if necessary, individual elements are replaced. Collection occurs in reverse order.
