We had to decide on such a replacement due to the high noise level of the VAZ version of the mechanics.
• 21179 – 1.8 l. The engine is the TOP option for xRay, it produces 122 hp. Acceleration to one hundred in 10.9 seconds with a top speed of 183 km/h. However, the maximum indicators did not cause the maximum fuel consumption; per 100 km/h the consumption was only 7.1 liters.

Pros and cons of the trunk

The trunk volume of the X-Ray is really small, but if you fold the rear seats, the displacement increases several times, which allows you to transport long cargo, such as skis or construction boards.

Volume is volume, but what about comfort inside the luggage compartment? Everything here is quite good: there is nothing superfluous in the trunk, the floor is perfectly flat, and the wheel arches are hidden from the owner’s eyes and do not protrude from the sides. The top shelf can be removed if necessary.

The luggage compartment is lined with high-quality, durable plastic; the compartment is illuminated in the form of a small lamp located on the left wall.

There are also small hooks on the walls so that you can hook the shelf. An interesting feature of the trunk of the Tolyatti crossover is the double floor.

It sounds tempting, but in reality, this is an almost useless and not very convenient function. The only positive aspect of the “double bottom” is the presence of clamps in the upper part. They make it possible to secure cargo with special straps so that it does not “ride” around the trunk.

The back of the rear sofa in XRAY folds at a slight angle, which is not very convenient, because the loading area is uneven. But the rear bumper does not protrude beyond its plane. This makes it easier to load things inside the trunk and reduces the risk of damage to the bumper.

Directly in front of the trunk there is a metal protruding part of the body, a kind of threshold. The fact is that this threshold is simply painted, there are no linings on it, which threatens this part of the trunk with scratches and abrasions.

The engineers overlooked this, because even the Niva had plastic linings in that place. The rear door of the car, leading to the luggage compartment, turned out to be quite weighty, sometimes you need to strain a little to lower it. But thanks to its weight, the door closes easily, even if you release it in the middle of its trajectory.

Cabin volume

The developers claim, and we can see with our own eyes, that the Lada X-Ray has the most spacious interior volume among cars of a similar class.

Indeed, the interior feels like it looks larger than it appears from the outside. Unfortunately, the volumetric parameters of the interior are usually not indicated in the technical description of the car, but the linear dimensions of the interior equipment of the Lada X Rey are available for review.

Moreover, the height of the cabin, measured from floor to ceiling at a maximum, is 122.0 cm. Its width, which is measured at the level of the shoulders of the driver and passengers, is the same for the entire length of the cabin - 133.0 cm.

But the distance between the backrests, which is measured in different positions of the front seats and in a stationary state of the rear seats, can be in the range from 60.0 to 81.5 cm, which is extremely small.

This is why there are numerous dissatisfaction in reviews that it is comfortable to sit in front, but not so much in the back, because there is nowhere to put your knees.

Lada Xray trunk: a lot or a little?

So, we don’t know whether the trunk volume of 361 liters can be considered sufficient, large or small for the Lada xray. This number is not the limit for cars, so comparisons will have to be made with other vehicles of the same class. For example, the X Ray trunk volume is only 9 liters less than the Hyundai Solaris and 28 liters less than the KIA Rio. At the same time, it has significantly greater capacity than the trunks of the Renault Sandero and Ford Fiesta. In this regard, for the Lada Xray, a trunk of such capacity looks quite acceptable and even a good solution, and in terms of this functionality alone the car can compete with foreign analogues. Perhaps the above comparison is not entirely correct, but such high hatchbacks in this price range, available to domestic consumers, are a rare occurrence, and it remains to be compared with the foreign cars most familiar to our average person.

In general, modern passenger cars are equipped with trunks with a volume of 300 to 500 liters, if you do not take into account purely sports models or semi-trucks with a universal body, which are rarely sold and are produced in limited quantities. You can also solve the problem by buying a beautiful and aerodynamic car box, which will be an excellent aesthetic addition to the appearance of the car. If this option is not suitable, you can get light roof rails or a universal roof rack. In other cases, you will have to understand that the car has a limited load capacity, and sometimes it is better to pull too much cargo than to carry it on yourself. After buying a car, you want everything in it to be convenient and comfortable. But this car only has a double floor in the luggage compartment in the Luxury version. It can also be ordered as an additional option at the dealership. But it will cost 12-15 thousand rubles. Therefore, it is more rational to do everything yourself.

You will need plywood 10 mm thick, a board 6 m long, 8 cm wide and 20 mm thick. Almost the entire length of the board is used for the entire frame. You also need to buy carpet from a fabric store - a material for interior trim of the body. To do this, you need a piece 1.5 m wide and 2 m long. In addition, you will need staples for a stapler measuring 8 mm. The money spent on materials costs approximately 1,500 rubles.

The most important thing is to do everything according to size:

1. First, make 2 frame frames 900x440 mm from a prepared board 80 mm wide. Fasten the parts with self-tapping screws.
2. Cut out the false floor itself from plywood according to the drawing, also 2 pieces.

After this, all that remains is to try everything on in place, then carefully cover it with carpet. You can use different glue, for example, “Moment” or No. 88. You should end up with something similar to what is shown in the photo below. The first photo shows frames covered with carpet. You can make the number of partitions at your discretion, depending on what you will put in these compartments.

And here you see two parts of the raised floor itself, also covered with black carpet. You can also make holes in them at your discretion: round, oval, rectangular. They serve for ease of grip by hand. It is better to cover the holes with suitable furniture fittings so that their edges are closed.
