Lada Granta has the status of the most affordable passenger car on the Russian market, which promises it good sales volumes in advance. But already in 2022, we will all witness the transformation of the model.
On the page the first details and latest news about the completely new generation of the 2022 Lada Granta model:
- Release date and start of mass production;
- First photos;
- Prices and configurations;

Last news
If you don’t turn a blind eye to the price of the new Lada Granta, then the car has quite a lot of disadvantages: the old design of the cylinder block in the engine, the transmission “singing” due to the poor manufacturing precision of the gears, the lack of a subframe, which forces the suspension elements to be attached directly to the body.
All this is the same inheritance that does not allow the model to reach anywhere close to the level of frankly budget foreign cars. The new 2022 Lada Granta promises to take a noticeable step forward, however, all planned improvements boil down to one thing: in fact, the car will become a redesigned Logan.
This will happen due to Granta's transition to the new Global Access platform. In fact, we are dealing with a copy of the well-known budget “trolley” B0, which continues to be used in the construction of Renault Logan, Nissan Tiida, Dacia Dokker, etc. This will already make the new car larger and more spacious, as well as give the opportunity to choose from a wide range inexpensive power plants.
The acquisition of the 2022 Lada Granta will be a serious increase in all aspects: comfort, safety, practicality, efficiency - almost everything will be the merit of a more modern platform, and the exterior will be responsible for the quite successful X-style, which was once developed for Vesta.
Body
Current “family”.
Perhaps the main achievement of the 2022 model year Lada Grant will be the presence of a subframe on which the front suspension with steering mechanism will rest.
This will automatically reduce vibrations and improve handling, giving better steering feedback. The new body itself, most likely, will also be borrowed from Logan, but will receive some of the original stamped parts to give the Russian budget vehicle originality.
Of course, the status of this car in basic equipment will not allow you to count on LED optics, but in the future the Grant will be able to have all the systems and options that the “French” have today.
Salon
New generation salon – Renault Logan.
The new “trolley” will definitely lead to a change in the interior, but it’s not difficult to predict the style of the new design. The Lada-Dacia alliance is unlikely to start inventing something new; rather, the front console from Logan will be transferred to the new 2022 Lada Granta, receiving only spot changes.
It follows from this that in the center of the dashboard there will be a “tower” topped with air ducts, under which a modest multimedia display will be placed. Even lower is a laconic “climate” block.
Obviously, simply transferring interior elements from other “related” models will help keep the model in the segment of the cheapest cars. The only question is which of them will share seats, steering wheel, rear sofa, door cards, etc. with Granta.

New Lada Granta
The new Granta hatchback was created from Kalina by replacing a minimum of parts. Changes can only be found at the front, these are the optics, bumper and radiator grille. The rear is the same Kalina, neither the lights nor the bumper were changed. But still the Lada Granta hatchback model looks pretty good.
Technical characteristics and filling
The B0 platform is compatible with a large number of power plants, but the Lada Granta developers are unlikely to miss the opportunity to supply the simplest and most reliable 1.6-liter Renault engines, which can have 82, 102 and 113 hp. With. power. They also provide a decent selection of transmissions (manual transmission, automatic transmission, DSG), which will increase the number of modifications.
In its maximum configuration, the 2022 Lada Granta will be able to have side front airbags, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, climate control and other comfort systems.
Interior
The manufacturer is doing everything possible so that the public does not become aware of the appearance of the car before the official premiere. According to experts, AvtoVAZ tried to make the Lada Granta as comfortable as possible so that the domestic vehicle is not inferior to foreign competitors.
Hypotheses have been put forward that the most expensive equipment of a car will consist of an electronic dashboard, a monitor with touch controls, climate control functions and a system for setting the driver’s own settings.
Release date and start of mass production
The manufacturer promises to show the new Lada Granta in prototype form in 2022. Serial production of the vehicles is expected no earlier than 2022-2023. Initially, the model was supposed to debut in 2021, but due to the global plans of the Renault-Nissan-Lada alliance, production was postponed, but for AvtoVAZ the project of the new Grant is one of the highest priorities and the debut will not take long.
Exterior Granta New Generation
The third version of the Lada Grant acquired an original name - New Generation, which forced motorists to speculate about the appearance of the new car.
Most experts agree that the new Lada Granta will be characterized by the following improvements:
- bold appearance of the front bumper;
- updated optics;
- enlarged air ducts;
- large radiator grille;
- larger wheel diameter compared to its predecessor;
- original pattern on the discs;
- X-shaped volumetric elements on the side parts.
However, it will probably be possible to learn about the appearance of the car only after the appearance of the first official photographs taken during the presentation of the vehicle to the general public. The event will take place in 2021, the date is still unknown.
Model history
Granta in the Sport configuration, which was released in 2011.
The history of the Lada Granta begins in 2011, it was then that the debut of a budget front-wheel drive car under the in-plant index VAZ-2190 took place. The car had a big task; it had to replace the VAZ 2107 (“Seven”), the Lada Kalina sedan and the Lada Samara. The model fully accomplished this goal and became the best-selling model in Russia in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2019.
At the time of release, the cost of the basic configuration was 229,000 rubles; it is worth noting that all cars came with airbags.
In 2013, the Liftback body appeared, and in 2021 the model underwent restyling, during which it received VAZ’s signature X-Face front end.

Specifications
In this regard, you should not expect changes - the second generation Grant will be equipped with old naturally aspirated gasoline engines. It should not turn out to be better or more powerful than Vesta, so the appearance of European turbo engines is excluded.
Under the hood of the budget vehicle in the cheapest trim levels there will be a 1.6-liter 8-valve engine with an output of 87 horsepower. It will be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
On this topic:
How not to “kill” a car by removing the catalyst: Instructions using the example of LADA Granta
The catalytic converter sooner or later makes itself felt in any car with an internal combustion engine.
Then the car owner is faced with a choice: regularly buy a new part or get rid of it once and for all... More expensive versions will be equipped with 16-valve engines with a volume of 1.6 liters and a power of 98 and 106 “horses”. The ancient 4-speed automatic transmission will probably become a thing of the past, and it will be replaced by a Nissan CVT installed on Vesta, Logan and Arkana.

Lada Granta 2021 with a new 90-horsepower engine and prospects for the future
The first relatively significant update for the VAZ Lada Granta model for 2021 was an increase in the power of the basic technical modification with an eight-valve 1.6 engine from 87 to 90 hp. The new engine with the VAZ-11182 index differs from the previous VAZ-11186 unit in its connecting rod and piston group (connecting rods from the 1.8 engine) with a lightweight crankshaft, as well as a modified gas distribution mechanism.
In addition, due to new valve tappets like the new K7M eight-valve engine, the modernized engine eliminates the need to adjust the valves before the mileage reaches 90 thousand km. Initially, the new 90-horsepower engine was tested on the restyled Lada Largus station wagon, also presented at the beginning of 2021.
Other units of the Grants engine line have not yet been touched: the model is also equipped with a sixteen-valve 1.6 VAZ-21126 with a power of 98 hp. paired with a Jatco four-speed automatic transmission and a VAZ-21127 with 106 horses and manual transmission. According to statistics, the majority of Granta sales (about 70%) are made up of versions with an eight-valve engine.
Also, in the near future, one of the bestsellers of the Russian car market should undergo not only an external and technical update, but also a platform change. The recent restyling only brought the car to the latest design style of the domestic auto giant, but the basis itself remained the same - in fact, it is still the same eight-platform, which will soon be no less than forty years old!
Naturally, further modernizing this obsolete chassis does not seem to be a particularly rational decision, therefore, according to the latest information, the Renault Group, which owns AvtoVAZ, in terms of optimization and profitability of production by 2025, intends to completely unify the entire Lada model range with the products of its Romanian division Dacia and thereby transfer production line of both brands on a single modular architecture CMF-B.
According to rumors, as part of such unification, the domestic Lada Granta will turn out to be a complete copy of the Logan, the new generation of which, by the way, has already been presented. In this case, the French from Renault may completely withdraw the Logan and Sandero models from the Russian market, which have not been bestsellers in our country for a long time.
In the meantime, let's see how the new Lada Granta of the 2021 model year drives with a 90-horsepower VAZ-11182 engine in the material of Kirill Mileshkin, an expert of the largest Russian-language automobile publication “Behind the Wheel.”

Now the Lada Granta 2021 model year can also boast of a station wagon. Without this type of body, the model range cannot be called complete. Especially in our country, where there are millions of practical summer residents. In the exterior of the Kalina universal body, only the front part is new. At the same time, the hood and fenders have the same shape, so there will be no problems with spare parts from a tin. If there is a station wagon, then there must be an off-road option. So it is that in the near future Russians will be able to please themselves with a modification of the Lada Granta Cross. The off-road station wagon will appear at dealers a little later than other models. Photos of Granta SW Cross are attached.
