I would like 6th gear, because on the highway this is a necessary thing. In the city, 5 mortars are enough. Already the aforementioned squeaking noise when braking. I understand that even owners of cars of a higher class and in a completely different price segment face a similar problem, but damn it, AvtoVAZ =). For some reason, there is no heated rear seats, although in other Lada models it can be seen as an option. That's probably all for now.

Well, I became the owner of the long-awaited Lada Vesta Sport. Briefly about the car, steering and brakes are just fire! I’m not putting any pressure on the engine yet, as it’s just being run-in) But it feels like there’s traction from the bottom! In general, the car is fire and I don’t regret the fact that I paid more than a cartoon for it! Currently the mileage is 1,600 km)

It is at least no worse than foreign cars in a similar price segment. The suspension “swallows” road irregularities, but remains moderately stiff and comfortable. Turns - with a bang! In fact, it is very good in turns, and the lateral supports of the seats tenaciously hold the driver and do not allow him to lose control of the road.

The engine in the Vesta Sport is enough for me both for the city and for the highway! The brakes are good, they cope with adequate speed, I haven’t tried to brake to the floor from 150, I hope it won’t come to that, I’m not a racer, I mostly ride with my family. The clearance allows you to drive along curbs)) They say the box is howling, well, I don’t know, I don’t hear anything, everything works in normal mode, no louder than at the same fluence, or maybe I just didn’t listen to that extent. The suspension can be somewhat noisy, but it is energy-intensive.

The new Lada Vesta Sport is equipped with a 1.8-liter engine, boosted from 122 to 145 hp. and from 170 to 187 Nm. The engine is mated to a Renault five-speed manual transmission with cable shift mechanism. The drive shafts have been strengthened, the number of splines has increased from 24 to 29. The engine also has new camshafts with a modified profile (the cam lift has been increased), plus the pressure in the fuel system has been increased, and the valve timing adjustment system has been reconfigured. A test drive of the car showed that under ideal conditions, it accelerates to 60 mph in 9.6 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 200 km per hour.

Of course, the design of the new Lada Vesta Sport 2021 is the strongest point of the car. The new body differs from the regular Vesta with very aggressive body kits, a lot of relief, wheels and optics.

The front part of the car differs least from the starting version of the sedan. She is still the same short and low, but a decent amount of aggression comes from her. This is facilitated by the new hood, which has a large recess in the center and slightly protruding side parts. As before, the radiator grille here takes the shape of the letter “X”. On top of it you can find the largest cutout, which provides air access to the engine compartment. This cutout ends on both sides with aggressive headlights, positioned at an angle and filled with halogens or xenon.

As for the body kit, there are also plenty of interesting elements. In the center there is another huge cutout that improves the cooling of the engine compartment. Also, the side parts were not left without bars. In the extended configuration, they also include built-in fog signals. Naturally, the body is decorated to the maximum with all sorts of relief.

The most formidable part here is the rear of the car. The short but tall trunk boasts a slightly angled lid, equipped with a spoiler lip for better aerodynamics. Next are slightly inclined rectangular headlights, as well as the embossed main part of the door. What attracts the most attention is the body kit, which takes up almost a third of the entire bumper area. Here you can find massive air intakes located on the sides, a diffuser with another false mesh and a metal insert with two huge exhaust pipes located at different edges.

In the interior design of the Lada Vesta Sport 2021, one of the key elements is the “red ribbon” running along the perimeter of the body. Red accents, designed to emphasize the sporty character of the new version, are also present in the interior. Red Alcantara inserts with X-graphics are made on the front seats, the main upholstery of which is eco-leather with a “carbon” texture and red stitching. In addition, the inscription “Vesta Sport” is embroidered on the backs of the seats below the headrests. This is not visible in the photo, but... The steering wheel, manual gearbox and parking brake handle are also trimmed in black eco-leather.

The instrument panel of the new product has an exclusive design and backlighting in red, the air ducts received a black glossy coating, which is repeated on the door handles, while the door and front panels have carbon-look decorative inserts. The ceiling and pillars of the car are upholstered in black material.

In the center of the dashboard there is always a huge multimedia system monitor, from which almost all the functionality of the car is configured. Next to it you can see neat air ducts framed with black glossy elements. A little lower is a modest console, which includes climate control washers.

The tunnel, unfortunately, is not luxurious. It turned out to be very thin and short. The designers managed to place here such elements as cup holders, an undisguised organizer for things, a gearbox control knob, buttons for activating heated seats and an armrest, which, like in the previous Vesta, is equipped with a regular or cooled glove compartment.

All seats in the car have undergone significant modifications. All of them will be finished with higher quality fabrics and even artificial leather. Also, the front seats now have pronounced lateral support and excellent headrests, the tilt of which can be adjusted to suit you. The seats located in the front also boast a heating system, installed in any configuration, and electrical position adjustments in several directions. The back row has become more spacious and comfortable. Here you can also find heating, but in an expanded version, an armrest with holes for glasses and an adjustable backrest.

Having celebrated its victory in the Russian car market at the end of the past year, AvtoVAZ began the 2019 campaign with sports news and new products. “Today you win, tomorrow you sell” - everything seems to be a classic of automotive marketing! Therefore, on January 12, AvtoVAZ presented a new family of its sports cars, the next day it held the Christmas Race of Champions with the participation of the country's best pilots, and this week it will begin sales of civilian Vesta Sport sedans, which, according to unofficial data, will cost 1 million 58 thousand rubles.

The serial Vesta Sport with a 145-horsepower 1.8 engine is already well known to us: Vladimir Melnikov brought it together with competitors at the Sochi autodrome back in the summer. However, the start of serial production was delayed until the very end of December, and only in January the cars began to arrive at dealers. But you shouldn’t wait for the Vesta Sport station wagon - it has been certified, but there are no plans to launch it on the market: it can only appear if something like a miracle happens to the demand for the sedan.

The newest Lada Vesta TCR ring should stir up interest in Vesta Sport, which, starting with the 2019 season, will compete in the most prestigious Touring class of the Russian touring car championship RSKG. But, of course, technically these are two completely different cars, which, in fact, only have the name and headlights in common. And the new VAZ car is also radically different from the Vesta TCR of the past - in the engine and suspension.

The Lada Sport Rosneft team finished the 2018 season in the Touring classification in second place, losing to the Lukoil team, and Lada leader Kirill Ladygin took bronze in the individual competition. However, the change in technology is dictated not only by the desire to improve results. The second reason is that Lada previously used two-liter Renault turbo engines, which have been out of production for five years now, which created difficulties with their maintenance. Now under the hood of Vesta there is a 1.8 turbo engine, prepared on the basis of the M5Pt engine from Renault Megane RS and Alpine A110 cars. Its power, thanks to modifications by the French company Oreca, remained at the same level - 350 hp. However, due to the smaller displacement, the torque promises to be more modest (the two-liter engine produced 420 Nm). But the new Vesta TCR for the first time received a rear independent double-wishbone suspension of the original design. Now the car tests are in full swing, which are taking place at the French Magny-Cours circuit, and the RSKG season itself starts on April 20.

In addition to the Touring classification, Lada Sport team pilots compete in Vestas in the more modest Superproduction ring class. Here last year gold was won in the team and individual competitions: the first in the Russian Cup was Mikhail Mityaev, the second was the head of the Lada Sport company, Vladislav Nezvankin. In the 2019 season, the equipment for Superproduction will remain the same - it is Vesta with a domestic VAZ-21129 turbo engine with an output of 255 hp. The only differences will be in the coloring and the 30-kilogram ballast that Lada will receive from the series organizers.

Following the reforms in the production Kalina and Granta families, changes also occurred with racing vehicles based on Kalina: National class ring hatchbacks received a new design and now bear the name Granta NFR R1. It’s the same in rallying: former Kalinas are now also called Grants and look the part. The interests of the Lada Sport Rosneft brand team on snowy and gravel tracks will be represented by the duo of St. Petersburg residents Yuri Arshansky and Alexander Andreev, for whom a new car with a 1.8 engine was built - previously VAZ rally drivers used only 1600 cc equipment. And the season in the Russian Rally Championship will begin very soon - on January 25-26.

But in fact, Lada began the battles of 2021 with its own Christmas Race of Champions on the ice track of the factory training ground in Sosnovka. AvtoVAZ has been holding these competitions for 22 years, but this time the lineup of participants turned out to be especially stellar. The visit to Tolyatti was even discussed with Jenson Button and Sergei Sirotkin, but even without them there were enough big names in the dispute for the prizes. Vitaly Petrov, Mikhail Aleshin, Alexey Lukyanyuk, Kirill Ladygin, Alexey Dudukalo, Sergey Uspensky, Dmitry Bragin and 17 other champions and prize-winners of various motorsport disciplines, including karting, took to the start line.

Everyone had the same weapons - Lada Vesta sedans with a 1.6 naturally aspirated engine, boosted to 170 hp, a cam five-speed manual transmission and combat rally tires with a stud offset of 4.5 mm. But paired synchronized races on ice are a special art, so it was a priori difficult for the circuit athletes who competed in Sosnovka for the first time to argue with Kirill Ladygin, who had previously won the Christmas Race of Champions five times, and with Dmitry Bragin, who won three times, including last year. However, the “newbie” Vitaly Petrov reached the quarterfinals, and 20-year-old Egor Sanin from the National circuit class made it to the decisive heat, where the Ulyanovsk resident fought with Ladygin. Alas, a full-fledged fight did not work out: in the first race, the highly experienced Kirill took the upper hand by a large margin, and in the second race (the score in the final was up to two victories) on Vesta Sanina, after a ski jump, the fuel pump failed. By that time, Ladygin was again in the lead, and re-races were not provided for by the regulations. Thus, Kirill became a six-time winner of the Christmas Race of Champions and received its main prize, the Silver Boat, for eternal storage.

What changes were made to the standard version of Vesta that “endowed” it with a sporty character? According to the designers, exactly 205 differences can be counted in the Sport modification, with the smallest part affecting the exterior.

The Lada Vesta Sport of the 2021 model year is capable of accelerating to “hundreds” in 9.8 seconds, which cannot be called a great achievement by AvtoVAZ, since it is only 0.6 seconds. less than in the regular sedan version.

Of course, they did not pursue the goal of creating a car ready to take to the start of circuit or rally racing, but used the Sport prefix to emphasize the more dynamic design of the car. But it would be wrong to say that the whole thing was done only by hanging a few spoilers on the body. Lada Vesta Sport 2021 really turned out to be “charged”, and both the suspension, chassis and interior have undergone serious modernization.

It is no big secret that you can give a car a more sporty character by increasing engine power, reducing the ground clearance and curb weight of the car, and also eliminating excessive softness and bouncyness from the suspension.

All this, and more, was adopted by the creators of Vesta Sport, making the following changes compared to a regular sedan:

  • the front track has become wider by 18 mm, the rear - by 4 mm;
  • the body has become wider by 10 mm. and below by 20 mm;
  • The ground clearance under the front bumper has decreased by 85 mm. (up to 185 mm), and in the crankcase protection zone - up to 155 mm;
  • the engine, while maintaining the same volume (1774 cc), became more powerful by 22 liters. With. (145 hp)

Lada Vesta Sport 2021 also received more powerful brakes, which use larger discs (even larger than those of the Skoda Octavia), pistons and brake pads. New springs and shock absorbers were built into the suspension, and the steering received reinforced steering knuckles, which required a slightly modified welding pattern.

VAZ managed to increase the power of the power plant through the use of new camshafts, which increased the pressure in the fuel system.

An additional effect is intended to be created by a reconfigured valve timing system, a more efficient engine cooling system and a reprogrammed electronic powertrain control unit.

The first copies of the Lada Vesta Sport 2021 will receive a manual transmission, but the manufacturer has repeatedly made it clear that it needs time to study the demand for automatic transmissions for its “charged” version.

Impatient experts have already managed to woo the car with the Japanese Jatco variator, which is equipped with many Nissan models today, but it is unknown whether AvtoVAZ will take such a step.

In addition, the “mechanics” for Vesta Sport 2021 is considered to be a more dynamic gearbox, especially with a clear lack of power. For the same reason, the car will definitely not be all-wheel drive, since such a drive scheme will have a negative impact on dynamic performance.

In the passport data, the manufacturer specifically points out the effect of the “sporty” body kit and low ground clearance: when driving at high speed, the lift force in the area of ​​the front axle is only 7.8 kg, and on the rear axle – 11.6 kg. For comparison, on a regular Lada Vesta sedan these figures are 33.0 and 22.2 kg. respectively.

Exterior

Lada Vesta Sport 2021 received a rather catchy design due to a lot of small changes: plastic door sills, a spoiler on the trunk lid, updated design of the front part, diffusers on the rear plastic overhang, exhaust pipes shifted to the center - the overall style is quite nice, although the design of the stern with its unusual bumper, some connoisseurs may think of cheap tuning.

The sides of the new body retained the branded stamping, and inscriptions appeared on the doors, reminding us that this is a sports version of Vesta.

There are also rear-view mirrors painted black and wheels enlarged to 17 inches. They are fastened with 5 bolts, which is explained by the installation of hubs from the latest versions of Renault Megane. By the way, the Frenchman also acted as a donor regarding the transmission: the Lada Vesta Sport 2021 is equipped with a fairly simple and reliable five-speed JR5 gearbox, which has a cable gearshift mechanism.

Interior

AvtoVAZ is gradually accustoming us to the fact that individual models receive their own corporate color, and if the Vesta Cross version of the 2019 model year became orange, then the Lada Vesta Sport, as expected, got bright red.

It can be seen not only on the exterior in the form of plastic inserts on the front and rear bumpers, but also mainly in the interior. Red stitching and inserts can be found on the seats and door armrests, on the steering wheel and dashboard, on the gear shift lever and in the wells where the speedometer, tachograph and other important elements of the instrument panel are hidden.

The plastic interior of the Vesta Sport 2021 received a new original “carbon-look” decor, and the armchairs and sofa were finished in Alcantara, which is fashionable today. The ceiling lined with black material, which additionally received completely new automotive ceiling fittings, also gives a chic effect.


The sporty look is complemented by shiny steel pedals that look a little sinister when the lights are on. In general, the interior design is quite impressive, and we must not forget about the modest price category to which the car belongs.
