VAZ 2115 and VAZ 2114 cars are representatives of small class passenger cars of the Samara family. These cars have many similarities, however, there are also differences. Let's look at these two models in more detail. Generally speaking, this family is presented in three versions, excluding modifications:

All of them are restylings of the Samara family, respectively, VAZ-2108, 09 and 99. Nevertheless, the designers tried, to the best of their ability, of course, to modernize these cars. The result turned out to be quite good, considering the cost of these models. These are not masterpieces of design, but they do not pretend to be so. Apparently, the main task here was simply to refresh the design of the already quite outdated Samara, giving them a slightly modified appearance.
The most important difference between the VAZ-2114 and 2115, noticeable, as they say, with the naked eye, is, of course, the body type - hatchback and sedan, respectively.
Previously, the second option was the most popular in Russia. For some reason, cars with a sedan body were considered more respectable, apparently due to the fact that high authorities drove a GAZ-2410 (later - a GAZ-3102). However, after the country was flooded with foreign cars, the attitude towards hatchbacks changed significantly.
At the same time, it is generally accepted that such cars are chosen by representatives of the younger generation, since they look much more dynamic. If bulky cargo has to be transported very rarely, then the aesthetic perception of the car will most likely come to the fore. Some people find the sedan more solid; accordingly, the hatchback is closer to the sports version. It is impossible not to note the disadvantages inherent in these cars, for example, the lack of power steering, ABS and many other devices that make driving easier today. On the other hand, all these shortcomings are more than compensated for by the price.
VAZ 2114 and 2115 belong to the Samara family of small class cars. First impressions
Samara of the first generation was tested by time itself. In certain years, it became a domestic automobile hit, which also had sports models. It’s impossible to count how many of them have been in motorsport. The famous “eights” were once new to our compatriots. Is there any novelty in the VAZ 2114? The old charm and flight of fancy have disappeared - the new Samara looks as ordinary as one can imagine.
The 15th and 14th models of the new family are extremely identical in appearance, the only difference is that one of them is a hatchback, and a five-door one at that. Will the ride quality and features be different? The VAZ 2115 looks more pretentious thanks to the trunk merging with the rear bumper, tail lights and, of course, the spoiler. But the size of the bumpers turned out to be not as practical as we would like: departure angles decreased, and it became more difficult to get to the towing eyes.
Side sills made of easily scratched plastic, which collect masses of sand and dirt, are completely devoid of functionality. The 2115 hatchback can still be called relatively modern in appearance when viewed from the front. The features of the base Samara are visible everywhere and in everything. In terms of mechanics, both cars have a 1.5-liter engine with distributed fuel injection. It is connected to a slightly modified transmission.
Brakes are the most modern part of the “filling” of the VAZ 2114 and VAZ 2115. The interiors of the hatchback and sedan have a modernized heater, and the instrument panel is not as sharp-angled as that of their ancestors. Remember those puzzles where you have to find 10 differences between pictures? It’s also not easy to find the differences between these cars, which are so similar, and, as it turned out, not only in external features. With some investment of effort and money in improving the suspension, brakes and sound insulation, the VAZ 2114 becomes in no way worse in quality than the Renault Logan or other foreign-made cars in the same class. Moreover, in terms of controllability, they are no worse than those already in the standard version.
However, a sophisticated car enthusiast will most likely pass by this model, because it lacks power steering and air conditioning - elements that began to be installed on Russian cars not so long ago. Samara-2 is the last generation of cars, and that says it all. Priora undoubtedly wins against 2114, because it has fewer hereditary design flaws. The above is also true for the VAZ 2115, but there are nuances everywhere.
According to drivers who have been driving these cars for several years, the 14th model still looks a little more elegant, and besides, it can transport really large cargo. After the ninth series VAZ car was released, the designers began developing the “tens”. But at the end of the last century, while the main work was already completed, cars of the Samara family began to be modernized.
When the twelfth model was already on the assembly line, VAZ returned to the Samara-2 car. The first thing we started with was creating a sedan, which was the most popular and expensive. This was a smart forecast, since 2115 is very popular today, despite the fact that it included a much larger number of innovations than actually became the case. Based on the project, both the appearance of the car itself and the chassis had to be changed. The same thing happened with hatchbacks. The front of the car and the rear of the body were changed in the prototypes, the luggage compartment opening was enlarged, and the lower edge of the trunk was lowered to the level of the bumper. Plus, the spoiler protrusion, which was traditional for the Samara hatchback model, was removed. As a result, the contamination of the glass on the fifth door was significantly reduced. All these changes should not have affected the main welding points on the body. They decided not to touch them, so as not to change the welding equipment. Interior changes to the car included a new instrument panel, door trim and upgraded seats. The rear seats were installed like in the VAZ-2111 model, which were folded out in parts.
The Samara models (21099, 2109 and 2108) wanted to be replaced by the next three models before 2000 - 2115, 2114 and 2113, but this did not happen. “Samara-2” is the first generation of cars in the VAZ line, which was equipped exclusively with injector engines. VAZ-2115 is a sedan from the same Lada Samara 2 family (five-door front-wheel drive class C sedan). This is a very convenient car not only for the city, but also for country trips. This is a more stable car, with a rigid suspension and high ground clearance, thanks to which the car can overcome off-road conditions without much difficulty. The interior is made of good, high-quality materials, just like the VAZ 2114.
The significant difference is that the VAZ 2115 sedan is 208mm longer. There is also a difference in price, of course, but not very big in the region of 10-15 thousand rubles. Another big plus of these cars is the fairly inexpensive price for a new car, cheap spare parts, a lot of literature on repairs, and ease of maintenance. Of the minuses, of course, the safety system is not improved - there are no airbags at all.
