In case of normal activation in an emergency situation, the SNAP is launched regardless of the state of the driver's seat belt fastening. The airbag system begins to function after the ignition is turned on and is controlled by an electronic unit (BUSNPB) with a self-diagnosis function. The system is activated by submitting an electrical signal from the BUSNPB to the airbag module.

If the airbag is activated, the upper part of the cover of the facing module of the airbag, when the airbag is filled with gas, breaks in structurally defined places and opens into two or three parts. Use a thin flat screwdriver to pierce the hole marked on the steering wheel. We also pierce a hole on the other side of the steering wheel.

Using two screwdrivers, press out the spring clamps through the holes (in the picture with the airbag removed), pulling the airbag towards you, we remove the hooks of the airbag from engagement with the clamps on the steering wheel.

We pull the pillow towards ourselves, overcoming the resistance of the clamps, and remove it from the recesses of the steering wheel.

How to remove the steering wheel cover on a grant

I decided to share with you detailed instructions for this procedure. It seems like there is nothing complicated here, but there are several points that I came across after reading various manuals on the Internet. As a result, the mistakes I made hit me pretty hard. Namely, I had to change the block of steering column switches. And it costs not much, not little: 1100 - 1300 rubles.

So let's get started. We carry out everything strictly point by point:

1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. After this, you must wait at least 10 minutes. in order for the airbag activator capacitor to discharge. Remove the terminal and wait 10 minutes. !MANDATORY!, if you don’t want to have the consequences of a deployed airbag.

2. You need to release two airbag latches. They are held in place by two spring clips.

Pay attention here! ATTENTION ! to the following: Without calculating, I pulled the pillow towards me and it abruptly jumped out of the additional fastenings. The wire from the airbag is short, and the L-shaped connector of the airbag shattered due to a strong jerk and tension. It is of such a shape and material that it shatters into pieces from any unnecessary effort. Inside it are not just terminals, but also some kind of inductor (like a coil). How to repair - restore?

No way! If it shoots, then you simply need to change it. We don’t repair a regular weapon cartridge, and the same goes for a pillow.

Again, there is proper restoration, and there is simply criminal!

Proper restoration is when the squib is changed and a new cushion block is installed, and the plastic lining is correctly restored. Of course, such repairs are not so cheap, but they are still somewhat cheaper than a completely new unit. Incorrect or criminal restoration is when they throw out all the used pillows and fill the place with cotton wool - polyurethane foam, etc. The plastic cover is not difficult to restore, so it is attached on top.
